In September 2022, I spent a Monday morning at People's Inclusive Welding in Portland, Maine and talked to the founder and lead instructor Jo Remillard about what led them to start a welding school geared towards women and people who identify as LGBTQ. I also spoke with two students, Merle and Mel, who each told me what led them to move across the country to go to PIW.
